Addressing the Impact of Environmental Toxins on Reproductive Health
New studies are focusing increased attention on how environmental toxins and chemicals are affecting reproductive health and fetal development. This is a critical opportunity to coordinate the efforts of the environmental and reproductive justice movements, as well as policy efforts to achieve optimum health for communities. Panelists offered strategies for how cities can ensure that residents live in communities free of toxins. Specifically, they will highlighted community organizing efforts to educate women about the chemicals present in products used in nail salons, and how advocates are working with city officials to address particular toxins present in their communities, including exhaust pollution and lead.
