Expanding Our Rights Through Municipal Legislation and Resolutions

Is it impossible to pass progressive policies in your state legislature? Do you live in a progressive city in a state hostile to reproductive rights? Are you concerned that state laws are not protecting the needs of your city? This workshop showed how advocates and elected officials are using creative mechanisms to implement cutting edge initiatives at the local level. Local legislation is a fruitful strategy for improving access to reproductive healthcare. This panel focused on passing legislation and resolutions in municipalities. Featured panelist discussed how they were able to pass progressive legislation in their cities, including political strategies, legal considerations, pitfalls to avoid, and how to secure a legislative victory.
